Delicious vanilla custard. You put it on waffles. Ingredients:
6 cups milk
2 tbsp butter
or: 2 tbsp margarine
1 egg yolk
1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp cornstarch
or: 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp vanilla
Instructions:
Start warming up the milk over medium heat. Keep stirring it so it doesn't burn.
Add the butter, egg yolk, and sugar. Mix the cornstarch in a separate bowl with some milk until there aren't any lumps left. Add it to the pot. Add the vanilla. This is the delicious part; don't be shy. Keep stirring everything over low-to-medium heat until it thickens. If it's not thick enough, you can always add more cornstarch or flour. But be patient. Put it on waffles with some berries. Awesome waffles ensue. P.S. Granny sez: you're going to have an egg white left over. Add it to the waffle batter for bonus fluffiness.
